Fantastic Fall Family Fun!

Having trouble feeling like it’s autumn in Northern California? Is the hot weather rotting your pumpkins before their time? Are those cozy sweaters sitting longingly in your closet waiting to be worn? Then grab the family and head to some awesome fall family fun locations to get into this fabulous season. Here are a few of our favorites!

Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park on Monterey Road in Morgan Hill is full of delight with a Pumpkinville Railroad and Pumpkin Pete’s Enchanted Hayride, two kid’s corn mazes, a carousel, pony ride and petting zoo. Weekends are filled with live entertainment and a storybook café featuring pumpkin pie. The Red Barn Marketplace is a great stop for harvest décor, gourmet snacks and the best in pumpkin carving accessories. Check their website for hours and pricing: www.uesugifarms.com.

Half Moon Bay has one of the largest pumpkin and art festivals in the Bay Area and this year the “Autumn Classic” celebrates its 40th anniversary. Held in October 16 and 17 on historic Main Street, it’s the perfect place to celebrate the beauty and bounty of the fall season. You’ll see gigantic pumpkins, crafts by area top artists, entertainment, a parade, contests, and again, of course, pumpkin pie. For more information check their website at www.miramarevents.com/pumpkinfest/index.html.

Another favorite is the G & M Farms Cornfield Maze & Pumpkin Patch in Livermore which has been featured twice on the David Letterman Show. This is no small maze so little one’s might prefer the smaller bale maze in the children’s areas. If you have tweens, teens or you’re a group of adults looking for some kid-like fun, this is the place for you! Cornstalks tower above your head giving you no clue as to where you are or where you should go. It’s trial and error all the way. And if you want an even bigger challenge, try navigating your way in the dark. If you’re lucky maybe a harvest moon will light the way for you!
