Food Allergies. The Hidden Cause of Many Ills

When we mention “allergies” most people immediately think of the seasonal variety.  Seasonal allergies are the ones that most commonly plague people and can cause annoying and on-going cold-like symptoms.  But have you ever noticed that after you eat ice cream you get a scum in your throat?  Or an uncomfortable mouth after eating pineapple? These are signs that you may be experiencing food sensitivities.

An allergy is an immune response to a protein or molecule from a specific substance.  The immune response typically comes via two different anti-bodies IgG and IgE.  Season allergies and extreme peanut allergies are examples of IgE allergies. The IgG allergen is a delayed onset sensitivity and can have the following less commonly know symptoms:

  • Sore throat
  • Decreased ability to concentrate
  • Achy joints
  • Skin conditions (eczema, rash, hives)
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Gas, bloating
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Headaches

If you have any of these symptoms and they are not responding well to conventional treatments, it may be because you are struggling with delayed sensitivity symptoms.  At Los Gatos Chiropractic and Wellness we offer a simple blood test that can determine your sensitivity to hundreds of foods. With simple changes in your diet, you can get back on the road to heath and well-being.
